Breaking Dawn

Okay, I just finished tonight.  I wasn't accomplishing anything by not finishing it, so I thought I had better just READ IT and be done with it.

Now, I have to tell you this:  I really enjoy these books, but I am not a fanatic.  I see flaws (gasp!) with both Edward and Jacob so I can't pick sides.

In fact, for those of you who have read this one, I have a dilemma:

What do I do when my Young Women ask me to borrow it?  I'm not sure I should lend it to them, if you know what I mean!

That being said, I have decided that I should be a Vampire.  I can see so many positives:

  • I would no longer be clumsy (ask my sister and brother-in-law about how I walked off their porch last week scraping up my leg – I think the final dismount was entertaining, though!)
  • Not having to sleep would be a BIG plus!  I just might be able to stay caught up on my deadlines, play with my children, clean the house, spend quality time with my husband, and fulfill my calling better than I do now.
  • Wouldn't it be nice to have perfect complexion without having to use (how many?) products!  I could go to "sleep" without washing my face and not regret it in the morning!
  • Oh, and think of the money I would save on hiding my gray hair!  (Just one patch … right in the front!)
  • What about my figure?  Again, the guilt I could save when I don't exercise!  And how great would I look in my jeans!  WOW!

I guess the only drawback would be the diet.  Hmmm, where do I sign Amberup!

I hope you enjoy the read too!  On to a good mystery!

I would love it too for these same reasons!! We should start a club…but I hear ya about lending it to the YW…I’d be asking their parents first for sure! There are those ‘sketchy’ parts.

I thought the author did a good job at keeping “those scenes” pretty tame and they waited until they were married. But maybe asking the mom is a good idea. I loved it and I LOVE EDWARD! 🙂

I just finished the book today. (My husband read it first…he finished reading the first three before me, so I thought it only fair to let him have it first.) I really enjoyed the series. I understand what you mean about certain parts. I am curious to know how they will handle it if it becomes a movie. I hear you on the becoming a vampire. I would love the not exercising part and not needing sleep. Thanks again for the letters!

I am just starting the 4th book. I love them, and there are some ladies in my ward that are fanatics. I don’t know that I would lend them out to my young women. I would leave that up to their mom’s. I don’t know that I want my sweet Morgan to read them until she is well aware and in control of those feelings. I get myself a little worked up when reading them. I was surprised they were written for teens.

I have to agree with you – I just got this to read on a recent camping trip, and found that my (14-yr old) niece was reading it too. After I got into it for a few chapters, I was really uncomfortable knowing that she was reading it. It’s true the scenes were tamed down a bit, but still, the plot lines were a bit – can I say “twisted?” (I’m referring to Edward’s suggestion that Bella has more children by Jacob – and the whole idea of the infant drinking blood – ick!)
I guess it is all a matter of personal choice whether to recommend it to the youth or not. My daughter really isn’t into them, and I think at this point I’m glad.
I’ve always pulled for Jacob – I’m sorry, but to me Edward is a little “too good to be true.” But seriously – couldn’t Bella find any normal kids to hang out with?
    ha ha
BTW, I found you through Good Things Utah – love your blog!

I want to be a vampire too! I could really use those nights to get stuff done. Don’t know if you have seen this, but it is the first chapter in the book about Edwards point of view!!! http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/midnightsun.html
