• flipflop CHARMS by a score of 13 to 4.  Oh, yeah, you are probably curious about the layout winner … the winner of a layout designed by me is … CAREY!

Do you want to win too?  Go to Making Memories site: http://www.makingmemories.typepad.com/ (be sure to mention that you knew to go there because you read my blog ;))  Answer the three questions on today’s poll and you’ll be entered to win $200 in MM products!  I’m the first entry!  You must enter before Friday!

Okay, I haven’t been too productive lately.  I get to go to the dentist (I love clean teeth), but I WILL get something done today on SPLASH & show you pics.  I also still need to get the Heidi Swapp board done!  It’s going to be really cool!  *A*

  • Flip_flops_1 Dear ladies, Sorry I didn’t post yesterday!  I swear I’ve been gone for the past two days straight!

Today I just need your opinion for the SPLASH letters:

Which flip flops do you like?  the charms or the Making Memories option?

    1. If we go with Making Memories, some of you would get the flower & some would get the flip flop
    2. If you choose the charms, you would all get a flip flop, it would just be a different color.

I have a definite opinion.  I’ll share it with you on Monday!  p.s. the "comment" contest ends on Sunday (April 30) so Monday we will have a new winner!  Have a GREAT weekend!  Love ya!  *A*

  • 2006_04_26_004_12006_04_26_0012006_04_26_0022006_04_26_005_2Aren’t you proud of me?  Look how clean!  (Notice I didn’t show you my bathrooms!)  Okay, now I can think!  The sad thing is it will quickly get back to how it was!  I’m a messy designer.  Oh, well!  I got good news!  My samples aren’t due until May 12, not the 8th as I have been planning!  Whoo Hoo!  4 more days!

Okay, todayPaint "splash" & start on the paper, make strawberry jam, make signs for Thimbles & Threads (a quilt store in Draper my aunt owns), go to baby shower & camp meeting (at 9:00 p.m.).  If I can at least get all that done and play with my kids, I’ll be happy!  You can see the "splash" letters in the first photo & the paint!  What do you think?  Last night I perused the Making Memories catalog (did you see it on my desk?  It’s huge!) looking for embellishments for learn.  I’ve found some & just need to get them here.  There’s not a lot of school stuff in the store.  I’ve got to do more looking.  TTFN!  *A*

  • We had to perform surgery at the wood shop today.  I designed "SplasSh" in a way COOL, funky, 70’s font that leans.  I was worried about the "p" standing, and sure enough, you set it down & it "dives".  Now, although I thought a "diving p" was rather appropriate for "splash", I decided that you would want to actually have your "p" stand like the rest of the letters.  We glued a block to it, It didn’t work.  We cut off the bottom & it stood, but looked funny with the rest of the letters, so we added extra to the bottom & made it lean a little less … and it’s a miracle, it stands!  But, the first "p" has made it to wherever wood goes when it dies.  We tried!  But, there was just no saving it!

2006_04_25_0022006_04_25_0032006_04_25_004Photo 1: kitchen, family room, Photos 2 & 3: temporary scrapbook room in basement.   As you can see, I have to clean so that I know where my brain is and COOK!  (I wish I could blame it on the kids, but no, it’s my scrapbooking mess)  I haven’t cooked since last Tuesday ~ yes, it’s been a week!  I think it’s time I did it again.  Oh, and on my way home from teaching bloom on Saturday, I stopped by Harmon’s and they had a great deal on strawberries & I had the great idea that I would make jam.  I need to do that.  Here’s today’s to-do list:  clean, make jam, fix the "p", finish painting splash, and get stitches removed (even worse than last time, I’ll have to share later!).  I have two done so far

  • All_class_pics1Family_ammJust a quick reminder … the EXPO is coming up fast!  It’s a week from this Friday & Saturday (May 5 & 6).  There are still spots available in my classes (Friday is more full than Saturday), the store has discount tickets and you can sign-up for a chance to win a spot in our "CROPPIN CABANA" for you and your friends!  You’ll get free food & free PRODUCT!  Plus, you’ll be a total VIP!  There will be two winners and they will be announced on Good Things Utah May 1.  You can only enter at the store, so it will be one of you who wins!  I just wish I could enter ;)!

I must finish a Heidi Swapp board for the store tomorrow, but while I’m doing that, I’m going to paint splash.  I have the paint, the paper, embellishments … I’m ready to go!  I’ll show you some tomorrow!  Love ya! *A*  (Don’t forget to comment ~ the contest ends April 30)

  • My new nephew was born yesterday & my sis & bro-in-law were able to be there.  They have developed a great relationship with their birthmom.  He was delivered by c-section, so they won’t get to take him home until she comes homw from the hospital.

My youngest got his second set of stitches last night.  He was at the bottom of the stairs and my oldest with a Thomas the Train toy was at the top.  When the toy made it to the bottom of the stairs, it made direct contact with a sweet little head.  It’s been exactly 1 month since he went for his other set of stitches (I don’t think I told you about them ~ he tripped & fell into a lego!).  We’re at 5 total:  2 from the lego & 3 from Thomas!

Today I am getting bloom ready.  (I haven’t started yet)  I start my "design log" for next quarter’s classes on Monday!  I pick up the wood for the store & next quarter’s classes today ~ so come to the store this weekend if you need wood!

Here are some ideas to help get your creative juices flowing this week!  I designed these for Basic Grey idea boards for the store last week!  *A*

  • 2006_04_17_0012006_04_17_003Wood_order_stackIsn’t it funny!  This is SPRING IN UTAH! I can remember snow on my birthday once or twice while growing up & my birthday is not for a week or so.  For those of you who aren’t in Utah, I thought you’d like to see what we enjoyed (relatively speaking) yesterday!  My oldest is extremely upset that the snow is melting today (it snowed all day yesterday) because he wanted to make a snowman with a carrot nose & ears & chocolate chip eyes!

Photo number 3:  It’s the first "snippet" for July, August & September’s classes … This is the stack of wood patterns I took to order with me last week.  (If you click on it, you can see one letter)  It obviously wasn’t just the wood classes, but my alphabet also for the store’s order.  If you are looking for wood letters at AMM, here’s a hint:  come on Friday or this weekend!

Starting Monday, I’ll do a daily log!  Remember:  I have to have my samples done on May 8 or I don’t get to teach!  Maybe I’ll just not do them!  J/K!

Oh, yeah, and mark your calendars for June 20.  Save that night for our "Hot Summer" open house.  TTFN!  *A*

  • Dear Friends,
I just found out some GOOD news!  Everyone keeps saying that they’ve heard my classes are full, and I thought they were too.  When I went into the store today, I checked on bloom and …
There are still spots available in the following classes:
    Saturday, April 22  … 4:30 to 8:30
    Saturday, April 29  … 12:30 to 3:30
    Saturday, April 29  … 4:30 to 8:30
If you are not signed up, please call the store at (801) 572-9199 and register by phone or go into the store.  If you are already signed up, please let your friends and relatives know that there are still spots in these classes.  Heck, they’d make an awesome Mother’s Day gift! (it’ll be here before we know it!)
Everyone always assumes the classes are full, but they’re NOT ~ so that creates an opportunity for you!  I thought "bloom" would be a good word for May & June before we get out our patriotic gear!  Thank you for your interest, don’t forget to comment and have a great holiday!  *A*
  • Kira_1Michelle won the drawing for a layout designed by me.  I hope you like it Michelle!  It was fun to design for someone else.  I needed to design the board for Basic Grey’s Oh Baby! Girl line of papers and thought this was a perfect opportunity to get the both done!  I weaved the flower & stripe papers together and put them on the yellow BG paper.  I scanned three different poses and pasted them together to make a "proof strip".

The "flower" is an experiment in using the Making Memories tag maker I just got.  I like how it turned out.  This layout uses 3 each of two different sizes of the "tag" tag maker tags and the one in the store uses 4 each of two different sizes of the "rectangle" tags.  You just trace the tag shape on your paper, cut out the shape, put the border on the shape, stick it in the tag maker & smash!  (It’s a good way to vent!)  Arrange the tags in the shape of a flower and use paper flowers to make the center of the flower.

I made the "K" foam stamp (It’s my handwriting), the "ira" is Making Memories Gabby foam stamps and I hand-wrote the "~ 9 months" part of the title.

BTW, for those of you who were wondering, the FAMILY wood letters are my handwriting ~ only BIGGER!  Remember there is another contest going on this month!  You only have to post and you will be entered to win another layout created by me!  Love ya!  A
