• If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I absolutely HATE cooking dinner!  To top it off, my sons (especially my oldest) have been extremely picky lately.  My oldest will only eat certain shapes of noodles …. spaghetti and macaroni, no twists, no shells, no tubes not even spiderman mac & cheese.  So tonight I went with a sure fire winner … Taco Ring (a Pampered Chef recipe).  In typical Amber fashion, I didn’t have everything I needed … does extra cheese make up for not having tomatoes???  I hope so!  Here are some pics and the recipe:

  • I hope my blog is a source of inspiration for you.  That’s why I do it.  I enjoy what I am doing and hope that my enjoyment comes through and inspires you.

When I create, the designs have to be my own, so I sit down with the products I want to use and let the inspiration come.  Now, don’t be fooled … this process can take DAYS for one 12 x 12 page!  The inspiration usually comes and most of the time I am thrilled with the results.  There are times in my life when I need inspiration, too.

One of these times was January 1, 2007 … I needed to design my Possibilities! class and had three hours to do it in!  Because of the tumor scare and hearing loss testing with my oldest, I had postponed designing the class and to be honest, I was NOT in the mood to create!  HALLELUJAH!  here comes PageMaps to the rescue!  A friend of mine (Tamara) told me to check it out and see if it would help me and it did.  I used two PageMaps as inspiration for the bliss and the right side of the happiness page.

I am a Becky Fleck PageMaps fan!  I don’t know why I like Becky Fleck’s sketches better than others, maybe it’s because I’m a rule breaker (not the important ones). But, as soon as I’m told I HAVE to do something … that is now the absolutely LAST thing on earth I want to do (like put a photo in one exact spot).  With Becky Fleck’s PageMaps, I feel free to alter it and make it "my own".

I emailed Becky and thanked her for saving me and she asked me if I would ever like to contribute to her newsletter.  I told her I’d like to repay her and would definitely be willing to do it!  A few weeks ago, she let me know she’d like me to contribute to her April newsletter.  I was thrilled that I could do something for her!  She sent me an 81/2 x 11 landscape sketch (her newest sketches).  Here is Becky’s sketch and my version of it:

I feel like I’m letting you in on a {big SECRET}!  I hope you can find inspiration from me and and now from … Becky Fleck!  Thanks for your support  *A*

  • Carey sent this to me the other day.  It was originally Diet Coke, but I don’t drink Diet Coke … so this fits me better!

Amanda was walking down the street when she was accosted by a particularly bedraggled and shabby-looking homeless woman who asked Amanda for a couple of dollars for dinner. Amanda took out her billfold, extracted ten dollars…and then asked, "If I give you this money, are you going to spend it on Mountain Dew instead of dinner?"

"No, I had to stop drinking that years ago", the homeless woman replied.

"Will you use it to go shopping instead of buying food?" Amanda asked.

"No, I don’t waste time shopping," the homeless woman said. "I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive."

"Will you spend this on a hair stylist instead of food?" Amanda asked.

"Are you NUTS!?" replied the homeless woman. "I haven’t had my hair done in 20 years!"

"That’s just fine," said Amanda, "I’m not only going to give you the money, I’m going to take you out for dinner with my hubby and myself tonight."

The homeless woman was astounded. "Won’t your husband be furious with you for doing that? I know I’m ragged, dirty, and I probably smell pretty disgusting."

Amanda replied, "That’s all right. It’s important for Andy to see what a woman looks like after she’s given up Mountain Dew, shopping and hair appointments."

  • Thank you for all your wonderful advice!  I loved all of it ~ and Tonya, the book is a great idea!

The Tooth Fairy gave my son $1.00 and you should have seen the look of sheer joy on his face when he came out of his room!  He actually hid the money behind his back to surprise us!

I guess I fell into that trap that is so hard not to fall into … the "I have to give MORE to my child than I had" mentality.  Thanks for bringing me down to reality!  If the Tooth Fairy had started giving out $5 -$10, this Tooth Fairy would quickly go broke!  Have a great weekend!  *A*

p.s.  go to: www.allmymemoriesretailstore.com, follow the blog link to the right and tell us why you scrapbook.  You will be entered into a drawing for a FABULOUS prize!

  • 2007_03_23_002_a_42007_03_23_003_4… the Tooth Fairy??  I need to know for tonight!  When I was losing teeth, I think I got $1.00 a tooth (but my grandparents chipped in another $2.00).  I keep thinking that with inflation over the last 17 years or so, that would be like $5.00 to $10.00, but that seems too high.  Please let me know what you do for your little toothless wonder kids!?  *A*
