We gave our girls who just graduated from High School journals on Sunday.  This is how I wrapped it and what the tag said:

As you take the next step in your journey through this life, use this journal regularly so that you may always know who you are.

Stay close to the Lord so that like Mary, you will always know Christ.

You are a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father.  We are lucky to have had the chance to work with you.  You have blessed our lives.Amber_2

2008_06_07_0079I love surprises, especially when I plan them!  This was Neal’s surprise … Basketball Camp!  He’s done such a good job at school and enjoys playing ball at recess (he took his ball everyday) we thought this would be a fun opportunity … it’s also the last year (most likely) that he’d get to go to a camp that his Uncle Geoff is working.

The first day he came home saying:  Amber_2Camp was AWESOME!”

    It was a good surprise!

  • So … I’m not the only one in the family who was on Good Things Utah this week.

Bryan is stylin’ in this season’s hottest item for men: Cargo shorts.

    Watch video here.

Doesn’t he look good?  After shooting my segment on Tuesday, the producers asked if Bryan would be willing to help Alicia Richmond out during her Chic on a Shoestring segment.  Being the kind of guy he is, he said yes, and then wondered what he was doing.  He’s sure he’ll receive a good razzing from his co-workers at the next Team Meeting and was a little disappointed he didn’t get to keep the shorts (but I have a good idea for Father’s Day), but I think he had fun doing it.

2008_06_05_0006_5x7 The boys learned that the could make all sorts of fun noises on the metal bleachers, so we banished ourselves to the comfy seats in the WAY back.  They had so much fun Amber_2watching their daddy “model”.

p.s.  Alicia is sponsoring a fun contest: If you know someone who has ugly jeans and is in need of a “jean makeover”, email Alicia a photo at: alicia@chiconashoestring.com.

    What a great helper!

    I think we've got a photographer in the Amber_2making.

  • and backdating … I know, I'm so sorry that I went a week and a half without posting!  Just two more posts and I'm all caught up … woo hoo!

If you get the Tribune, check out Linda Fantin's article and see some of my handywork, if you don't I'll post a link when it's up later today (It's 1:00 am & I'm heading to bed)

  • 2008_05_31_0058Every year, to celebrate my Grandma's birthday, my aunts, uncles & cousins meet at Grandma's to clean the yard.  My two cousins and I are usually in charge of a "special" project.  We've cleaned out the the garden shed, the garage & the fruit room (this year's project).  We are 2008_05_31_0055not emotionally attached to anything that might desperately need to be thrown out.

We like uncovering treasures and getting rid of "scary things" (a metal can that was eaten by bleach).  We gathered all the cool things we found and put them on the "Retro 2008_06_10_0004Shelf" (top photo).  The soap was from my Great Grandparents home.  It's dated in the 1930's.  My cousin took home the green fondue pot and my grandma let me keep these awesome blue jars & tray.  Picture them with flowers & other assorted scrapbooking supplies!  YEAH!

2008_05_31_00062008_05_31_0033Aren't these two boys the cutest helpers ever?  The boys were such good helpers.  And my cousin Spencer let Riley follow him the entire time!  It's amazing how much work a bunch of people can get doneAmber_2 in 3 hours time.

Those of you who read the blog last year know how disappointed this cute boy was when he didn't earn the "Top Dog" award.  He had worked hard and done what his teacher asked, but still didn't earn it.

This year he has worked hard and excelled and I am happy that he has accomplished his goal.  The "Top Dog" is awarded quarterly to one student in each class.  I am grateful that he has had a teacher that encouraged him to Amber_2excel, instilled a desire to do quality work and most importantly helped him to see his potential.

We had a lot of fun playing at the park today.  We are glad Aunt Andrea held a surprise party for Uncle Matt's birthday (Happy Birthday!) so we could drive to Logan with Grandma and Grandpa and play with our cousins.  Oh, and we learned that you don't need a flat surface to ride your scooter on!

On the way home, we stopped at Maddox Ranch House.  It was fun to eat there with the boys because (occasionally) eating at Maddox's on the way home from Bear Lake with his grandparents was one of Bryan's favorite childhood memories.

Children's Party tip: The kids meals are served in a frisbee!  I need to remember that for the next Amber_2birthday party I throw!
