• 2009_03_27_0045What a fun day!  All those cute kids trying so hard to not have fun and instead COMPLETELY ENJOYING THEMSELVES!

After dancing with their partners, the kids danced with a parent.  I had the opportunity to dance with Neal.  It was frustrating to him.  I dipped when going to the center, I skipped when we were sashaying – it was too fancy for his blood.  So I was a good mom and tried to be “normal”.

Apparently I was so good that my friend Rachel 2009_03_27_0070thinks I should go “pro”!  I don’t think Neal could Amberhandle it.

(See, they’re having so much fun, they can hardly contain themselves!)

When Julia asked me if I wanted to design an album for the blog. I jumped at the chance! Can you blame me? I could choose any album I wanted. What a fantastic opportunity to “play” with the new Bo Bunny Edgy Albums (clear and black) and one of the new lines!

Even better, my oldest son turned 8 on Monday. I couldn’t think of a better way to show him how thankful I am for the opportunity to be his mother. I’m not quite sure how I was so lucky to have him as my first-born, but I must have done SOMEthing good. It’s been so much fun looking through pictures and seeing how much he’s grown. It really hasn’t been that long!

I hope you enjoy this album as much as I do! I’ve added instructions at the bottom of this post so you can make one too.

Step 1: Choose your products. What is your theme? Is there a particular color scheme you’d like to focus on? It doesn’t matter what it is, you just need to narrow down your options.

I chose the new Bo Bunny “It’s My Party” line
    Its my party groupingchipboard

Step 2: Combine chipboard and acrylic album. I used all 4 acrylic  album pages and only 3 of the chipboard pages. Use as many or as few as you’d like. I’m saving the remaining 3 pages to use on layouts.

Step 3: Lay out your papers: to get a feel for how they will look on the album. Make sure you alternate patterns and colors.

Step 4: Adhere paper to album: I designed this album so that the adhesive on the acrylic is hidden. You can use the same adhesive for the chipboard and acrylic. My favorite liquid adhesive is Tombow Liquid Mono Adhesive (green lid). I apply to glue to paper, just rub with your fingers to keep it from warping. You can also use Modge Podge, Blue Roll-on Tombow Mono Adhesive, or Double Stick tape.

Step 5: Ink: Staz On ink must be used on acrylic. Any other ink will wipe off. I inked all edges (including edges of photos and acrylic pages)

Step 6: Embellish: Embellish with Bo Bunny rub-ons, Bo Bunny chipboard accents, Bo Bunny brads, photos, bling, felt, etc.

Step 7: Bind: You can bind it with metal rings (as I did) or tie ribbon through the holes.Amber

  • Since this is such a special occasion and will only happen once in a lifetime, I wanted to make sure the invitations were just as special.  I looked all over for fun examples of LDS Baptism invitations, and didn’t find many examples.  I hope this gives you an idea for ANY invitation Amberneed you may have.IMG_0162IMG_0171IMG_0174IMG_0179

  • I can't believe I haven't shared these yet!  8 is a big birthday in my religion.  A child turning 8 has the opportunity to be baptized a member of the church.  With Neal's big day approaching, Bryan and I decided to have some photos of him taken.  Since she did such a great job taking our family pictures, we asked Haylee Bean to work her magic again.

"Handsomeness" … that's how she described him.  I have to admit that I agree (I'd better!  I wouldn't be a good mom if I didn't, right?)  I'm thinking that's a good title for a layout!

Here's a preview of what she did:

    Untitled-3

We also had her shoot some of Riley in his Easter clothes:

    Untitled-4

Check out her blog to see more previews.  I'll be sharing more with you in the future.  In fact, I'm almost done with the invitations, so I'll Amberbe sharing those with you soon!

  • They double & triple-teamed him, he hit his head on the floor twice, ended up on the floor too many times to count.  He left "it" on the court … blood, sweat & tears.  The entire team did … and still, they lost by 3.

They're currently ranked 6th in the nation, but tonight they lost in the "elite 8" of the NAIA National Tournament.

I'm sure there will be national honors coming, but that doesn't matter to him.  He doesn't care a about personal accolades, he wanted his team to win.  He loves his team and has enjoyed playing at Westminster.

It's been a really fun season.  It's my brother's senior season, no more college basketball.  My boys are upset they didn't schedule more games.  They're not going to know what to do with themselves next winter.  What else do you do in the winter?  They know nothing other than watching my brother play ball every winter.  It's been fun for us all.  We'd be watching ball anyway, it's just fun that we can cheer on a family member.

You know, that's what a family is.  We're supposed to be each other's biggest "cheerleaders".  You don't tear down a family member, you build them up.  If they are having a hard time, you are there to help lift them, not stomp on them when they are down.  A family is a "safe haven" from the world.

How funny, I started talking about basketball and ended with family.  We are happy we've Amberhad the chance to support my brother!  I can't wait to see where the road takes he and his cute wife!

What a fun day!  You have a birthday and are the VIP in your school class.  I made this poster for your classroom at school.  It was so much fun looking through pictures from the last year and remembering some of the fun times.  You are the child that made me a mother.  Being a mother is the best accomplishment I’ve ever had!  It is a privilege being your mother.  I am amazed I have been entrusted with such a smart, sensitive child!  I hope I’m always worthy of being Ambercalled your “Mom”!  Love you,

Supplies: Paper:  My Mind’s Eye Penny Lane “Free Bird” line, Bo Bunny My Word 6″ chipboard letters, Red Glitter, American Crafts Ribbon, May Arts Ribbon, Fancy Pants 12″ acrylic stamps.

We'll see what happens in the NAIA National Tournament!?

The boys are SO upset that the season is over.  Neal wants to know why they didn't schedule more games.  When he was born, Geoff was in High School.  He doesn't know what it's like to not watch his uncle play ball each winter.  Next year is going to be weird.
