I’m supposed to be working on my project for the My Mind’s Eye newsletter.  I even have my pictures printed already!  That’s the hardest part of designing for me.

But to tell you the truth, I’m not feeling creative right now.  Neal is finally asleep.  It only took him 3 hours.  He was scared.  Scared or one character from a Goosebumps book he is not reading and has not read.  When we tried to tell him that he can’t read Goosebumps books anymore he tried to tell us that he’s not afraid of them.  He’s missed 5 hours of sleep in the last two nights not being afraid!  He knows he has the control of being afraid, but when you are tired it’s a little hard to be reasonable sometimes.  And fears are REAL.

Unfortunately, now I’m frustrated – not with Neal, but with the fact that it’s midnight and I need to start working, but I need my sleep, too.  And, I’m feeling sorry for myself.  So, I thought I’d come share my woes with you and focus on one of the many the positive things in my life to get myself in a creative mood again!

2010_09_25_0117_warmninjaNeal and Bryan ran another 5K and Riley ran another 1K this past weekend.  Guess what!?  Neal beat his 5K time by 5 seconds!  What an accomplishment.  Neal was first place in his division.  In fact, he ran the 5K faster than anyone under the age of 15!  I am so thankful that Bryan is willing to run slower to stay with Neal so I know he’s safe.  It’s been 2 years since Bryan ran a 5K at his pace (we let him run 10K’s by himself).  Guess what, B!?  It’s not going too long before you are trying to keep up with Neal!

(I love the photo on the left – it’s the moment they knew Neal could beat his best time)

Neal won a gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse (yum!) as he went up to get his prize, all these college students were clapping and surprised at how fast he ran the race.  The MC told the audience “Here’s our future Quarterback”.  Neal liked that especially since there is a boy at school that says he’s not “Athletic” enough.  What!?

Riley ran the 1K in about 4 minutes.  He didn’t take a shortcut (like he did on the 4th of July) and he didn’t take the long way (like he did on Labor Day).  I think Riley is averaging 2.5K when he runs a 1K!  Look at the joy on his face!  Swoop (the mascot of our favorite college team) ran through the finish line with Riley.

I am proud of my sons and their willingness to train and work for races.  I know they are not just running a race, but are learning valuable tools for their entire lives!

AmberI guess I’d better be creative now!  Hugs,
