Featured Collection: Lost & Found Union Square from My Mind’s Eye

Credit for today’s project goes to my Dad.  Growing up, my grandparents had a generic yearly calendar with pictures of my Aunts, Uncles and cousins on their birthday.  As we grew up, and our families got bigger they ran out of space.  So, a little while ago my Dad made a nice frame/display piece out of oak and printed 8 x 10 photos of everyone and added them (in order) to the display on a peg.  As an event (birthday/anniversary) passed, they simply move that photo to the back and the next important event is the photo on top.

Lately, I keep forgetting birthdays and other events of those I love.  I find myself saying over and over “I can’t believe I forgot.  We didn’t have it on the calendar”  Well, guess what, every time I looked at the calendar and it WAS written.  So, I started thinking of a way to help myself remember and thought to the idea of my Dad’s.  I wanted something that looked good with my home decor since I need to have it displayed prominently (obviously).

Lost & Found Union Square by My Mind’s Eye is the perfect collection.  It fits with the colors in my family room/kitchen area, the embellishments are family oriented and the glitter and yummy goodness easily add pizzazz to the project.

I’m turning over a new leaf.  Never again will I neglect a loved one’s birthday (Please forgive me if I do – I don’t mean to).  Maybe I should call this the “Important People and Events” Calendar.  Whatever it’s called, I’m sure it’s going to be a valuable tool for you also.

Hint: This is a great idea for a Christmas gift for anyone who has a lot of events to keep track of.  My pages focused on one person or event.  I was thinking that if you are worried about your calendar being too thick, you could have more events on a page.

I actually demonstrated this project today on Good Things Utah.  When the video is available, I’ll upload it to the blog side bar.

Where can you get a photo stand like the one you used? We don’t have any craft stores in our little town, is there any place online to buy them?
