I am thinking of entering this year’s CK Hall of Fame contest and I need your opinion.  There are three assignments that every entrant must submit.  The first assignment is this:

Assignment A: Inventive technique Create a layout that showcases an original, innovative technique. Near to the layout, explain in a step-by-step format how you performed the technique.

This is my question … I think I do a lot of cool things, but are they really original?  What technique do I do that you think is original?  What should I submit that will set me apart from the crowd?

Question #2:  I’m teaching a Wedding class next quarter and I don’t want to do just black and white pages … so I’m going to do color!  I purchased this Basic Grey Blush20card20kits  Blush Card kit on Saturday.  It has chipboard and rub-ons you can only buy in the kit.  I thought it would be fun to use this line of paper with this kit for the class, but is it BLUSH overkill?  I switched my Love Shack class to this last week and I am using it for a layout in Possibilities!  What do you think?  There are so many other products out there that I can use in the class.  Should I use BLUSH or something else?  BTW, I am going to use these pages for my parents/parents-in-law wedding pics!

Thanks for your help!  *A*

Hey Amber! So I’m not a stalker, even though lately I’m the first to post, guess this is what happens when you work for an internet company 🙂 Anyway, ok about Question 1, I tried to think of stuff you do that I cannot do without you (even after you teach it), so… I’m not even sure this is a “technique” per say, but I love how you print words in your hand writing on velum and use those on your pages and what not (example, spring on possibilities last quarter). I don’t have a printer or cute hand writing so I do feel that it makes it pretty unique, but maybe some others do it, but you do a really good job at it, so that’s my thought. Second, about the wedding class, I naturally love the idea of using blush because… it’s just soft and romantic anyway, it would be cute with black and white pictures for all types of wedding colors and it has lots of colors – pinks, reds, blues, greens, etc. (so lots of different wedding colors could use it) Also, maybe it can be done so that it can just be turned into “couple pages” not even necessarily wedding if people want, OH and I think wedding pages would make the best wedding gift so you can’t go wrong! Go for it! Use the blush, love it, love it! Oh and we will just have so many cute coordinating pages 🙂 Have a great week!

Okay – my thought of a “technique” that you do is make wood letters out of your handwriting like FAMILY from the expo!

I love your emails. I’m afraid I’m not very creative
so I’m not going to be any help to you, but anything
    you do is wonderful!

Hi Amber – I’m sure this is way too late – but here it goes anyway. I think you combine patterns in an amazing way. Somehow you get them all in there but they’re not overpowering or confusing and there is still a place for the photo to shine. Often, when I see others try to combine patterns my initial reaction is, woah – too much! But I never feel that way about yours. Your layouts are beautiful (playful and elegant come to mind) even without the photos, but the photos really do seem to complete, rather than compete with, the layout. And the paper theme, or layout, always fits with the words or sayings. I’m not sure that I’m making myself clear – you know I’m a huge fan! Best of Luck!!!! You have my vote!!! – n.
