February 2010 Wax Museum Grand Opening

There is so much to do and see at the 2010 Wax Museum Grand Opening.  Come visit and see over 100 life-like wax creations – so real you can almost see them breathe!  You can interact, take pictures with and get up close and personal with some of America’s greatest historical figures.

Enjoy more than that!  Witness a young man, dressed just like the William “Wild Bill” Cody wax figure, share his five favorite “Wild Bill” campfire stories.

This handsome young man’s portrayal of William “Wild Bill” AmberCody is given five stars by this reviewer! *wink*

  • I knew the Frame-ups would be perfect for a simple, quick, cute and inexpensive baby mobile.  With the variety of Frame-ups we re-released you could even switch the mobile up with the seasons.  There is no printing on the back so you can leave the back blank (like I did) or mount the pieces on cardstock.  I used Stickles and Glossy Accents to dress up my Frame-ups!

Each album page includes a line or two from the following poem:

Why is the sky so blue and clear?

Why is the robin’s song so dear?

Why is the sun so warm & bright,

Filling the earth with glorious light?

Why are the fields so green today?

Why do the clouds all float away?

Why does my heart with gladness sing?

    Only because its spring.

**HINT** Being a member of an autoship club gives you 20% off ALL purchases!  Plus, we have been selling out of the clubs so be sure to sign up so you can reserve the kits you love!

My Mind’s Eye is sponsoring my classes (along with Shyloh).  I’m so Ambergrateful they trust me to use their products.

One of my favorite companies to work with is Fancy Pants Designs.  I’ve said before that their glitter cuts are some of my most favorite products to work with and they are… but wait until you see what they came out with at CHA!  It’s shipping in March, and you won’t be disappointed!

(psst!  Flocked transparencies, new sticker alphabets and metal embellishments… sigh!)

Today on Good Things Utah I had the privilege to demonstrate this ultra fun spring banner.  I used a mixed media flower book (chipboard, printed transparent and felt sheets) to form the base of the banner.  The Little Sprout collection has the perfect colors and patterns for spring!

Fancy Pants is selling a kit of this project for $24.99 (includes shipping) at: http://www.getfancystudio.com/store/index.php

Download these instructions if you’d like to make it on your own.

You can view the video in the column at left and/or visit Good Things Utah’s website for segment info!Amber

Brett 2010My friend Carrie Butler’s brother, Brett Fafard, is suffering from Stage III testicular cancer.  He has endured numerous surgeries and six rounds of chemotherapy.  Unfortunately, these are expensive.  Brett is a college student and does not have the best insurance.  He is in need of two transplants, but his insurance will only pay for one.

Brett’s family has organized the Fafard 5K run/walk as an effort to raise the $125,000 needed to pay for the second transplant.  It is only $20 (preregistration)/$25 (same-day registration) to participate.

If you are in the area and looking for a good cause to support, please consider this worthy cause.

  • Friday on the My Mind’s Eye blog, the entire team scrapped “love notes” to something/someone we loved.  I chose to create a layout about my in-laws and their ability to find hope through adoption.

    I Know What Love Is

I have hidden the journaling under the photo.  My journaling is taken from the blog post I did about this cute families ability to find hope through adoption.  If you’d like to read the post, click here.

I used the Scalloped Sentiment and Upper Crest border punches from Fiskars.

  • I get to design the awards for the Valentine’s Day boxes for Neal’s class.  Guess what!?  I have very creative friends.  My co-room mother came up with a fabulous list of awards.  That list consists of fun awards like these:

    • Best Use of Pink
    • Best Use of Red
    • Best Display of Valentine’s Day
    • Best Use of Stickers
    • Best Use of Shiny Materials

J’Nel came up with almost 30 ideas like this.

For the actual award, I’m getting my inspiration from Tiffani’s blog post on the My Mind’s Eye blog.

Riley’s party is tomorrow.  Since he’s still in preschool, our only party prep work is writing names on Valentine’s!

It’s going to be fun!  I hope your Valentine’s Day preparations are going well also!
