• I shared this post on the My Mind’s Eye blog.  It’s in celebration of {Inter}National Scrapbook Day.  Be sure to visit the My Mind’s Eye blog and leave a comment on my post, Trisha and Anam’s posts to be entered to WIN the MME collection of your choice!

I scrap both to REMEMBER and be GRATEFUL for the little things.  The good, the bad, document what I’ve learned and look forward to the future.

    1.  It’s my 10 second “pause before I speak”.  This layout is of my youngest son.  He decided that it would be fun to play in my acrylic paints and spread Hauser Green (great color) over the counter – and himself.  Instead of yelling, I thought about how I wanted to preserve this memory.  So, I ran and grabbed my camera.  He and I cleaned up the mess and all was well.

    2. To be more involved.  It makes me stop sunbathing to take pictures like these:

(Featured products: Tres Jolie and Breaking Free)

    3.  ENJOY the moments, count my blessings and remember when they happened!

My Little Valentine's Never Enough (Featured products: Love Me Do and So Sophie)

    4. Express my feelings, hopes and desires for my loved ones.  Life is too short, you never know when you won’t be able to tell them how you feel.

    5. So my loved ones will know who I am:

    I hope I didn’t overload this post.

  • let it go, let it roll right off your shoulder
don’t you know the hardest part is over
let it in, let your clarity define you
in the end we will only just remember how it feels
our lives are made in these small hours
these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate
time falls away, but these small hours,
    these small hours still remain

let it slide, let your troubles fall behind you
let it shine until you feel it all around you
and i don’t mind if it’s me you need to turn to
we’ll get by, it’s the heart that really matters in the end
our lives are made in these small hours
these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate
time falls away, but these small hours,
    these small hours still remain

all of my regret will wash away some how
but i can not forget the way i feel right now
in these small hours these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away but these small hours
    these small hours, still remain,
these little wonders, these twists & turns of fate
time falls away but these small hours
    these little wonders still remain

I love the movie, Meet the Robinsons!  It’s a great story about believing in yourself and overcoming obstacles all played out so children can understand.

“Little Wonders” plays at the end of the movie and during the credits.  When the credits are over, this quote from Walt Disney is shown:

"Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths."
    ~Walt Disney Amber

    Talk about powerful!

What a fun time I had on Good Things Utah with Neal!  He’s a good little helper.  I love it when I can combine my children with crafting (Riley chose to go to preschool instead of joining us).

We used the So Sophie Clever collection to create our paper flowers.  Tip: This is the vase I used for the Easter Tree last month.  It’s a multi-purpose vase!  The vase measures 15” high and 6 1/2” on the bottom.

Since the vase is larger than most, these flowers are BIG.  The daisy is about 6” across, the California Poppy is 5” and the rose is 4” across.  We only had time to show how to make one flower on the show, but I have typed up detailed instructions that also include pictures.  All you have to do is click here to download the instructions: Download 2010_04_15_MME_Paper Flower Bouquet.

Later this afternoon, when the video is available, we’ll add the the video to the left column.  You can also click here to read the segment on the Good Things Utah website.

My boys think this will make a fun Mother’s Day gift for their grandmas (shhh – it’s a secret!).  We are thinking of having the boys write down things they love about their grandmas on the leaves.  My boys are excited to create this project.  They have a fun time bending, wadding and scrunching paper.

Since there wasn’t a studio audience to bring prizes to, My Mind’s Eye has generously donated a complete So Sophie collection for me to give away HERE!  All you have to do is comment on this blog post (or ANY blog post) between NOW and next Thursday, April 22, 2010.  I’ll announce the winner on Friday, April 23, 2010.Amber  There is also a giveaway on the My Mind’s Eye blog, too.

I hope you enjoy this project!

p.s. Did you see the cool glue gun?  Thanks GlueArts!

March is a favorite month of mine.  It is the month I became a mother.  I wanted to document what I love about my son.  I also asked my husband and both sets of grandparents to share their “top ten things we love about Neal”.  I tucked their top tens along with a photo of them with Neal under the large photo.

I am thinking of having Neal write HIS top ten things, too.

If you would like to see what others have done for March, visit the clip_image001My Mind’s Eye blog.

  • So incredibly beautiful….thank you for the chance to win!
