I was worried that I might not have enough to demonstrate on Good Things Utah, since the Valentine Catcher was a fairly simple project. So… I created a back up project using a technique I’ve wanted to use for a while.

I know you’ve seen them the darling Valentine’s Banners using paper strips and a stapler. (HINT: they are awesome hanging from the ceiling)

I wanted to use the same concept, but come up with a new twist on it.

As a general rule: Cut two 1” x 5” paper strips per heart.

For this project, you will need:

My Mind’s Eye Fancy That “Pearl” Bridesmaid paper

My Mind’s Eye Fancy That “I Do” Love You Gold Foiled paper

Stapler and paper trimmer

Step 1:

  • Cut 16 – 1” x 5” solid gold strips from “I Do” gold foil paper
  • Cut 16 – 1” x 5” pink with gold foil strips “Pearl” Bridesmaid paper

Step 2: You will need to figure out what order the papers should go in. This is how mine are stacked to start:

(left strip is on the bottom, right strip is on the top, these sides facing up.

Step 3: Stack and staple bottom

Step 4: Bring two outer pieces down and staple the bottom together. See how this formed a heart shape. Do not fold or bend paper, it will ruin the curve.

Step 5: Bring two inner pieces in, add the next two strips and staple as shown.

Step 6: Repeat step 4 until desired length is achieved.

**For my décor, each strip of hearts contains EIGHT hearts**

Step 6: Combine two heart banners to make heart shape.

I hope you enjoy this project!
