Tonight I had a bad migraine and missed Young Women. I was so sad that I had to miss it! Since I don't have new pictures from tonight's activity, I thought I'd share the craft project we did at camp with you. Our camp director had the fabulous idea to purchase pocket sized scriptures and cover them with scrapbook paper. I took a big stash of paper and the girls personalized them with ribbon, punches and their imagination!
Since I was helping the girls make theirs, I didn't take any pictures at camp. But, last week I helped Dalene's granddaughter make one and I quickly snapped some! We even made one for her grandson that just graduated from High School.
At first I was a little worried … is it sacreligious to cover your scriptures? Then I thought about how much more likely the girls (and myself) would be to keep their scriptures in their backpacks or purses if they were covered. And realized what a wonderful idea it is!
These are SO easy! Have you ever covered a text book? It's the same thing!
- Cut a 10 x 12 base piece.
- Fold one side (the long side) up approximately 2"
- Set the scriptures on the paper, with about 1/8" paper showing above, fold up the other side.
- Fold right side in about 2"
- Slide scriptures in, wrap around and fold left side up.
- Embellish as desired!
***I did glue the flaps down. Be sure to not glue the "pocket" shut that the front and back cover slide into.
ENJOY!
