Or so we hope!

Yesterday Riley swallowed a penny!

I know what you are thinking, what's an almost 4 year old doing swallowing a penny?  Isn't that something that babies do?

It wasn't under my watch!  Bryan was changing his diaper, saw the penny and heard the "gulp!"  We called the doctor to see what needed to be done.  We were told to have him drink water and eat bread to make sure they would go down.

I guess it's a good thing he wasn't younger or the penny wouldn't have made it down.

Good, but NOW I get to "watch" for a penny.  If the penny doesn't come out in 5 days, we need to go to the doctor to make sure it's not stuck!  Fun … NOT!!!  Oh, the things we parents do!Amber_2

Speaking of too old to swallow a penny, isn’t your 4 year old son too old to be in diapers? Someone’s not being a good enough mother….

    Ethel,
I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog and comment with your opinion. I would have emailed personally to thank you, but since you gave my email as yours, I was unable to.
Yes, I agree with you, he is too old to be in diapers. Unfortunately, when you can’t see everything that goes on in someone’s home, it is hard to know whether or not your opinion of them is correct.
I also want you to know that you are right, I am not perfect. Nor have I ever claimed to. That is why we are here. To learn and grow and do our very best with our time here on earth.
I hope you have a lovely day!

To “Ethell” Wow you have some guts.. I don’t think the measure of a good mother is when her kid decides to be potty trained. Amber is a great mother, her kids are well adjusted, happy, smart, well loved kids, and if you have read through her blog, her kids and family are her life. Everything she does is for them. Does leaving this comment make you a better person? Do you feel good inside now? Because I definitely wouldn’t be casting any stones before I took a good hard look at myself in the mirror.

I’m always the last to hear things so Mike just told me about your personal blog critique named Ethel. No one likes to be told they aren’t doing a good job! You know you have the support of your family and many friends so don’t let her bother you!
    But I’m curious . . . what happened with the penny? I didn’t see a follow-up. I assume it came out?

You guys are right. I was mostly trying to post a funny/sarcastic/playful comment. The last thing I would want to do is criticize someone’s parenting skills. And honestly, sometimes I am still potty training.

To Ethel – Don’t you hate when things don’t come out like you expected. Sometimes it’s hard to read “funny” or “playful”. I’m sure we’ve all had similar experiences!

hmm. i don’t think ANYONE would take the comment “you’re not being a good mother” sarcastically. and if you really meant it sarcastically, why wouldn’t you use your own email address instead of amber’s?
