Warning!  It’s about poop!  If you can’t "digest" (hee, hee) it, don’t read any farther!

Riley has been potty training (kind of).  It’s a long process because he doesn’t want to do it. So, I really wouldn’t say he’s "training", we usually "discuss" potty training.  I’m fine with that, I can wait.  I know that forcing him won’t accomplish anything.  The one thing we have going for us is Riley hates having his diaper changed.  So every time I change his diaper, I lovingly say "if you don’t want me to change your diaper, go in the potty next time."  or "where does pee/poop go?"  He dutifully answers "in the potty" and we move on until the next time he needs his diaper changed.  Somewhere along the line I heard someone say that you need to let them know that poop goes in the potty (as we already discuss) and take their diaper, drop the poop in the potty and let your child flush the toilet.  It’s gross, but you don’t have to actually touch the poop and if it helps … , right!?

Well, this morning, he needed a poopy diaper changed and he was still in his pajamas so I told him to stay where he was while I got a diaper & clothes.  Well, he didn’t.  I heard a really sweet voice coming down the hall talking about poop going in the toilet.  I turned around and what do I see?  Riley holding his diaper, poop on his bum, thoroughly proud of himself because, after all, "poop goes in the potty".  No worries, a little elbow grease and disinfectant and we’re all recovered.

Riley turned three last week.  I hope you enjoy these pics (can you tell he likes cars & Thomas?  Enjoy!  Amber

I have to put the poop in the toilet all the time:) Cloth diapers:) Does Riley have a reason he doesn’t want to go in the potty? Is he scared? Just curious! I love your blog!

I feel your pain! Isaac turned 3 two weeks ago and has NO intention of going in the tiolet. No bribe or threat has worked. He also loves cars. We bought Lightening Mcqeeun undies for one bribe. He loves to talk about them but not wear them!

LOL Amber this is hilarious! I just picture this and it makes me smile! I’ve got two 3 year olds who aren’t too interested in potty training either… Oh well.
